A COP Week 2 waystation for those raising the ambition on food systems: The state of food systems at COP 28 and the road to COP 30

About the event

COP28 offers the most ambitious set of opportunities to advance multiple facets of the food systems transition agenda, including the Emirates Declaration on Resilient Food Systems, Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Action, a new roadmap for the Sharm el-Sheikh joint work on implementation of climate action on agriculture and food systems (SSJW) the Non State Actors Call to Action on Food System Transformation and thematic areas of focus such as climate action and nutrition, blue and aquatic foods, and new commitments that shift production from industrial to regenerative and agroecological. For those driving these efforts, the stakes are high and success hinges on unparalleled levels of coordination and collaboration. Yet, with 1,000’s of parallel events and tens of thousands of press releases and news releases a day at COP, tracking the way in which the food systems agenda is succeeding in moving the needle while at COP is difficult. Enter: the waystation for those of us—you—raising the ambition on food systems action. Part real-time sensemaking, part half-time huddle, and part adaptive management strategy session, this side event is not a panel. It’s a dedicated space for you to engage in an open discussion among food systems stakeholders to reflect together on: “What success looks like at COP 28 and are we on track to achieve this success? What else needs to be done to ensure success before we leave Dubai? And looking ahead, how can we better collaborate on the road to COP 30 to ensure high ambition?” Please come prepared to share your point of view and your energy so that we can continue to raise the ambition on food systems on the road to COP 30.
